Where I’ve been since the beginning of the month of April in Blog world is beyond me. When I was asked when the last time I posted on my blog was, I said two weeks. I think I said two weeks for about four weeks because looking back now, my last post was in March and I’m currently writing this in May.
The thing is, I did a lot of things for the sake of this blog in April, and yet I didn’t write one single post.
Nonetheless, I have purchased the cutest little agenda, and have set an official schedule. The official days will be Mondays and Thursdays, and quite possibly more scattered throughout. Though I cannot commit to that because unfortunately for me, this is a hobby, and I have a real world, big girl job.
Now, because of this big girl job, as I’ll call it, sometimes I need a middle-of-the-week escape. Thanks to that escape, this post was brought to life.
This 4th Wednesday of the Month idea is simple, but fun. I hope that it gives you an incentive to come to the Miami Beach side of town, as I’ll probably be somewhere eating and wouldn’t mind seeing some familiar faces.
Here is what I consider the perfect way to do this 4th Wednesday of the Month adventure. If you can’t do it in this order because of traffic or other real life duties, you can start anywhere else, change it all around, and you’ll still have a good time.
WHAT: Food Truck & Music Fest
WHERE: Collins Avenue and 73rd Street
WHEN: 4th Wednesday of the Month from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
5:00 p.m. Citi Bike Miami Ride
6:00 p.m. Free Yoga
7:00 p.m. Choose your Guilt at any of the Food Trucks
7:30 p.m. Free Entertainment
8:00 p.m. Choose your Sugar Rush
8:30 p.m. Relax and Enjoy
Citi Bike Ride
On the corner of 73rd and Collins Avenue is a Citi Bike Rental. If you’ve never used this, you’re in luck, it’s easy. All you have to do is walk to it, insert your debit/credit card, choose your bike number, take it and go.
The price for one hour is $6.00, which is how much you’ll need to do this itinerary as I think would work best. Oh, and this bike has a basket for small, little, furry things… just saying.
Once you rent the bike, cross Collins towards the beach and take the concrete path that runs close to the ocean, this path is called Atlantic Way. There you’ll have a nice bike ride that overlooks the ocean, and then you will make a left when it comes to an end on 79th street (or you can quickly go up a hill of sand straight ahead to have a view like this).
Once you get to the corner of 79th, you’ll see the entrance to North Shore Open Space Park to the right, which happens to run from 79th Street to 87th Terrace. Follow the path that will lead you all throughout the park and back to the very spot in which you stand. When you get back here, go back the same way you came and drop off your bikes.
Not everyone does yoga and not everyone cares to try it, but if you do, this is the time. Green Monkey instructors host a class at no cost, so bring your mats as you’ll be doing yoga outside with the ocean very near by at the North Beach Oceanfront Center.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, you can bring the furry, little, four-legged creatures to yoga if they know how to behave. I took Chloe once, and she took a nap.
Here you’ll find a good range of Food Trucks to choose from, depending on the evil that you’re craving. Make sure you walk around and see all the ones that are available before making a final decision!
First, pick the food, then go eat it on the beach! Always pick up after yourself, never liter. Dogs are technically not allowed here, but there’s no lifeguard to stop you, but you didn’t hear that from me. Shh!
At the Food Truck and Music Fest you’ll have free entertainment. They offer face painting for kids, dancing and little shows on a stage, and music playing in the North Shore Park Bandshell. Walk around and enjoy it.
Okay, you got the food, you enjoyed the entertainment, now get the dessert. Might as well, right? Walk around as there are a few options. Last time I went I got this:
This is a fried doughnut, with Oreo gelato from Dolci Peccati, it has whipped cream, caramel, and hot fudge on top. Delicioso!
I really hope you guys try this out some time, it’s inexpensive and it’s something different that gets you close to the beach. Highly suggest giving it a chance. The way I’ve said to do this is just a frame of reference, but whether you cut it all out and mold it differently is irrelevant, just give it a try.
As always, if you have any questions, let me know! Write comments, DM me on Instagram, send me a message on Facebook, anywhere really. I’ll respond as fast as I can and hope I can be of help.
In the meantime, I hope this year is treating you guys well and that you’re doing something for yourself. Whatever that is doesn’t matter, as long as it’s good for you and you genuinely enjoy it.
Lots of love,
